Thank you for your patience and understanding as our small team of humans takes on the enormous task of restoring our urban canopy. We're working to find the best way to distribute free trees in a way that’s as fair and effective as possible.
It’s clear that the demand for free trees far exceeds what we can currently supply, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out with feedback. Here’s what we’re doing moving forward:
If you have NOT received free trees from us since the storm, please click here to let us know. We are prioritizing first-time recipients.
If you HAVE received free trees but need more, don’t worry—there will be future opportunities. Right now, we’re focusing on getting trees to those who haven’t had the chance to receive any yet.
Reforesting Asheville is not a one-day effort—it’s a long-term commitment. We’re in this for the long haul, and we’re so grateful you are too.
We can only grow and source a limited number of trees at a time in our nursery. If you have land or space you’d be willing to donate or let us use to expand our nursery operations, please email sara@ashevillegreenworks.org.
Thank you for your passion, patience, and commitment to bringing back our tree canopy!

Pickup Information
Free and purchased trees can be picked up any Tuesday in April between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Any free trees not picked up by April 29 will be returned to inventory for our next giveaway.
All tree pickups occur at our Sand Hill Nursery, located just inside Buncombe County Sports Park in Candler. Use 24 Apac Circle for the address if using GPS. The person who reserved the trees does not need to be present (e.g. you can send a neighbor or friend), but the person picking up MUST have order confirmation ready to show our volunteers at the nursery when picking up trees.
