Ways to Give

When you donate, we leverage your support to build the resilience of our entire community to the changing climate.

10 More Ways to Give

1. Make a Recurring Gift

GreenWorks has taken a multi-faceted approach to create a climate-resilient future for Asheville – from planting trees, to preserving native pollinators, to reducing our waste, to cleaning up our rivers and roads, and educating our neighbors on how they can get involved.

The good news is that none of us have to do it alone.

We are happy to create tailored sponsor benefits based on your marketing, sales, and philanthropic goals.

As more and more businesses compete for a slice of the market share, we know that we can help you stand out. We’ll help you reach an audience with purchasing power and brand loyalty, especially when it comes to businesses who want to show a commitment to our local environment as part of their brand identity.

4. Donate your Boat

We’ve been able to give new life to old pontoon boats, kayaks, and canoes, and we’d love to add your old boat to our family. Your donation is tax-deductible. Reach out and let us know what you have in mind.

5. Host a Fundraiser

You can help make your community more climate resilient by hosting a fundraising event. We’re always so impressed at the creativity of this community – from BBQ nights to spelling bees – people come up with amazing ways to protect their homes.

6. Give Stock & Appreciated Assets

Giving appreciated assets helps donors realize tax and financial benefits of a charitable contribution while still generously supporting our efforts to protect our homes from a changing climate.

8. Amazon Wish List

Here’s a curated shopping list containing items from chainsaws to waders and everything in between. These are the items we have identified as most needed for our Spring/Summer 2025 program season. These picks are tried and true by our volunteers and staff and are made to last through many uses. Thank you for your support!

7. In-Kind Gift Wish List

We’re always looking for tools and resources to expand how we serve our community.

Please consider donating or selling the following items to Asheville GreenWorks to help us continue our mission of creating a climate-resilient Asheville and Buncombe. We make our tools and resources available to the community to support grassroots projects. All donations are 100% tax deductible and appreciated.

8. Give Qualified Charitable Distributions/IRA Charitable Rollovers

If you’re over 70 and a half, you can give a tax-free donation directly from your traditional IRA. This is a great option for donors who want to give without relying on cash.

9. Donor Advised Funds

A donor-advised fund works as a specialized investment account. You can deposit tax-deductible funds and assets as charitable donations and enjoy low or no capital gains taxes.

If you’re interested in giving a gift of stock, charitable distributions, or public securities, please contact us and we’ll work with you and your tax or financial advisor to craft a solution that works best for your circumstances.

10. Legacy Giving

By leaving a bequest in your will, your generosity continues to benefit our community for years to come. To add GreenWorks for your will, you can ask your attorney for appropriate language or use the following suggested language:
